New Delhi: Reliance Jio has been the frontrunner for the new customers in November 2018 and the company added a total of 88.01 lakh new customers across the country. This is more than any other telecommunication service operator. The data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) on Friday evening showed that the customer base of Reliance Jio has increased to 27.16 crores from 30 November 2018.
According to data, by the end of November, the total number of mobile subscribers in the country was 117.18 crore, out of which 17.39 lakh subscribers were added this month. “Total wireless subscribers (GSM, CDMA, and LTE) increased from 1,170.02 million at the end of October 2018 to 1,171.76 million at the end of November 2018, thereby registering a monthly growth rate of 0.15 percent,” Trai said in a statement.
According to the statement, “As on November 30, 2018, the private access service providers held 89.99 percent market share of the wireless subscribers whereas BSNL and MTNL, the two PSU access service providers, had a market share of only 10.01 percent.” Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) added 3.78 lakh new customers in November, which increased the number of subscribers to 11.38 crores. Airtel added 1.02 lakh new subscribers and the number of subscribers increased to 34.18 crores.
Vodafone Idea, the country’s largest telecom service provider, lost 65.26 lakh subscribers during this period and the company’s subscriber base declined to 42.11 million.
